Setting up a custom domain on Hubflo allows you to host your Client Portal on your own domain (e.g portal.yourdomain.com), rather than the default subdomain (your_company.hubflo.com).
โ€‹
Follow these steps to set up your custom domain on Hubflo.
โ€‹

In this article:

1) Adding Your Custom Domain to Hubflo

Important Notice to get started:

  • You need to choose a subdomain on Hubflo to create your Client Portal and then you can add your custom domain.

  • Ensure you have already purchased a custom domain.

โ€‹

  • Set up your custom domain to host your Client Portal:

โ†’ From there, enter the custom domain (url) you'd like your Hubflo portal to live on in the Custom domain field:

For example: your purchased the custom domain yourdomain.com and you want to host your client portal on portal.yourdomain.com

1. "portal" is the Name* you'll need to specify (in the next step)
2. "yourdomain.com" is the Custom Domain you purchased

2) Adding a CNAME Record with Your Domain Registrar

Log in to your domain registrar and add a CNAME record for the domain you plan to use on Hubflo. The process may vary slightly from registrar to registrar, but it generally involves similar steps.

These are the two values you should add:

1 - Host/Name*:

In our previous example, we chose to host the Hubflo Client Portal on portal.yourdomain.com. The name will be portal

โ€‹2 - Value/Target:

  • When setting up your domain, the "Target/Value" must always be portal.hubflo.com.

  • This is not the URL of your Hubflo subdomain (e.g., w-agency.hubflo.com). Do NOT change this to anything else or it will not work.

Example: Here's how it would look like if you'd like to connect a domain such as portal.yourdomain.com to Hubflo:

Note: Normally, your custom domain setup takes about 15 minutes. However, DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours.
โ€‹

If the status shows "active" but you're experiencing issues, please try accessing it from different browsers.

3) Troubleshooting

โ†’ I have confirmed the CNAME record is correct, but my domain is still not working...

If you have added the correct CNAME records but your domain is still not working, try to refresh the connection request!

First, click on Cancel request from your Domain Settings and click Save.

Next, add the domain again.

This step will restart the domain validation process, which is particularly useful if there was a mistake in the CNAME record that has now been corrected.

Changes can take up to 15 minutes to take effect.

โ†’ My CNAME isn't working!

If 48 hours have passed and your CNAME isn't working, double-check that you have the correct values in the right fields.

If it doesn't work, please contact us with a screenshot of your DNS settings and the desired destination URL. We'll look into the issue for you.

4) FAQ

โ†’ What happens if I disconnect my custom domain?
โ€‹
โ€‹If your custom domain is disconnected, your Portal won't be available anymore through the custom domain you previously had set up. This domain will no longer point to your Hubflo Client Portal. Your Client Portal will become available only through its Hubflo subdomain.

โ†’ What happens if I change my connected custom domain?
โ€‹
If you disconnect your current custom domain and connect a new one, it's important to note that an automatic redirect won't be established. Consequently, your old custom domain will no longer work.

โ†’ Does Hubflo host my domain?
โ€‹
โ€‹Hubflo does not directly host your domain.

To connect your custom domain to Hubflo, we set up a CNAME (Canonical Name) record. This CNAME record points your custom domain to your Hubflo Client Portal, essentially telling the internet that your custom domain should redirect to the Hubflo-hosted Client Portal.

You must maintain an active domain registration with your domain registrar to link it to your Hubflo Client Portal.

โ†’ What happens to my Hubflo subdomain once I set up a custom domain? Will my client portal still be accessible on my Hubflo subdomain?
โ€‹

Once you set up a custom domain for your Hubflo Client Portal, your Hubflo subdomain will remain active and your client portal will still be accessible through it.
โ€‹
โ€‹This means your clients can access the portal using either your custom domain or the Hubflo subdomain.

If you have created and invited clients on your Hubflo subdomain, once you add your custom domain, your portal will be live on both domains. There will be no automatic redirection between the two.
