Section templates let you save a project section, including its tasks, and reuse it across projects. They're ideal for recurring phases or workflows you set up for every client.

To reuse individual tasks outside of projects, see Create and Use Task Templates.

Create a section inside a project

  1. Open a project and go to the Tasks tab

  2. Click + New section

  3. Name the section, or select a saved section template from the dropdown

Create a section template

  1. Go to Settings > Templates > Sections & Tasks

  2. Enter a section title

  3. Click + to add tasks under the section

  4. To add subtasks, click the + icon on the tasks you created

Once added to a project, you can edit task due dates, assignees, tags, and other details without affecting the original template.

Note: When you create a template, the creator is automatically set as the assignee. You can remove the assignee before saving the template, otherwise that person will be assigned to the task every time the template is used.

Edit or delete a section

  1. Click the section name

  2. Click the trash icon next to it. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Deleting a section removes all tasks inside it. Make sure to move any tasks you want to keep before deleting a section.

Show sections to clients

To display sections in the client portal, go to Settings > Appearance and select either:

  • As a list grouped by sections

  • As a board grouped by sections

Here's what the client experience looks like when sections are enabled as a board grouped by sections:

Once your sections are set up, you can track progress across all your projects in the Project Status Tracker.
