How to connect Twilio to send SMS notifications to clients (PLUS plan only) - Chatroom

With Hubflo’s PLUS Plan, when you message clients through the Messaging app, they can receive your message via SMS as well as email.

This ensures you can be completely confident that your messages are being seen. Plus, your texts are sent directly from your personal Twilio number.

Twilio is a popular service that lets you send texts and make calls from your app using your own phone number. It's like a bridge that connects apps to phones for communication.


1. Setup

First, go to https://twilio.com and click on "create account".

Once your account is created, you'll need to create a phone number.


Step 1. Grab your Twilio credentials


Go to https://console.twilio.com/ and click to copy your account SID, Auth Token and Phone number.


Step 2: Paste them in Hubflo

Go to Hubflo > General Settings/Domain and paste the following Twilio details:

• Twilio Account SID

• Twilio Authentication Token

• Twilio Phone Number


2. Check Client Information

To ensure the SMS notifications work properly, make sure each client’s profile includes a valid phone number. If the phone number is missing or incorrect, the client won’t receive SMS notifications.


3. FAQ

When will my client receive an SMS?

• The client receives an SMS only if they haven’t read the messages on the client portal.

• They will receive the SMS 10 minutes after the unread message is sent.

What happens if I send multiple messages to my client over time?

• To avoid spamming, your client will receive only one SMS notifying them of multiple unread messages in the chatroom.

How does my client access the chatroom from the SMS?

• The SMS includes a link to the chatroom. The client will need to log into the client portal from their mobile device if they haven’t already.

If I enable SMS notifications, will my client still receive an email?

• Yes, the client will receive an SMS after 10 minutes and an email notification every 30 minutes with unread messages.
